Day 1 Corenote Address
Yesterday morning (Day 1 - Monday 15 July), was the Day 1 Microsoft Inspire Corenote Address. Held at T-Mobile Arena, it was packed! My biggest takeaway was definitely around Teams, in two points:
- There are over 500,000 companies worldwide using Microsoft Teams. And the software is only 2.5 years old. Chances are very good that a minute FRACTION of those companies are even remotely exploring the full capabilities of Teams. The room for growth in such a young software application is mind blowing. But definitely there is going to be HUGE need around guidance and adoption when it comes to Microsoft Teams and how to fully take advantage of it.
- The biggest areas that Microsoft sees will be growing around the Modern Workplace are in Security, and Teams Extensions and Adoption. Not a surprise, but good to see that our expectations and predictions at IComm are definitely in the direction the global giant is seeing as well.
Microsoft Inspire Hub - CONNECT
The Inspire Hub at the Mandalay Bay Convention Centre is just amazing. It's a massive area devoted to CONNECTION - between Microsoft employees and partners to further the goals and vision of Microsoft by making sure the partners are the best equipped they can be to make a difference. There are region-based Area Lounges to meet up with other delegates; the Connect Zone - a space kind of like a cafe for collaboration; the Sales Centre where partners can get personalised advice on furthering their business; and the Partner Network section where partners can tap into tools, resources, and content. Then of course, there's the Showcase.... an area devoted to product innovations and demonstrations, Tech Talks, and customer and partner stories. And we can't forget the Partner Solution Zone - where all the vendors are exhibiting their devices and solutions that they are creating to integrate within the Microsoft Universe.
New Surface Hub 2S
The new Surface Hub 2S was available to play with in the Inspire Hub - and it's even sexier in person! Really great device, amazing whiteboarding. I didn't think that they could improve on that, because really, it's "just" whiteboarding, but they did. (Let me know if you want to be one of the first to come check out our 2S when it arrives, just reach out on the contact page!)
Aussie Aussie Aussie!!! Oi Oi Oi!!!
Last night was the AUSSIE Microsoft Inspire celebration at the Omnia Night Club at Caesar's Palace - what an amazing venue! Just to give you an idea of the scope of the place, last Friday Calvin Harris played there, and he packed the joint with 5,000 people! Phenomenal choice of venue. There are roughly 400 Aussie delegates here in Vegas this week, so Down Under is well and truly represented. Microsoft Inspire truly is the place for all partners around the globe to get what they need to better service the customer.
Adoption and Change Management - KEY PILLARS
Today we went to some great sessions – there is a huge focus on adoption and we are really well positioned at IComm with our Halcyon solution. As I'd said in my takeaways from the Corenote - with that many companies using Teams, and likely so few of them really tapping into its full potential, change management, training, and adoption is going to be KEY going forward. It's not just about opening up a program and figuring it out - it's about making sure that the program changes things for the better.
My biggest takeaway so far today was a powerful statement in a change management session I attended:
"Value is only realised when people change the way they work."
We heard a rumour about some great stuff coming tomorrow.... but that's all you're getting out of me! "Loose lips sink ships!" Make sure you read tomorrow's blog to see if it we share it!
And that's it from me. This evening we are off to a "networking session"... who am I kidding, it's a party. Hosted by Live Tiles, it should be a great night. Hopefully we get some good photos with some great people to share tomorrow.
